The Word of GOD is alive. It is His Son. It is His Spirit. It is Himself. It holds the only absolute truth in the universe. It is light- because GOD is Light. It is truth- because GOD is Truth. It is love- because GOD is Love. It is sharper than a double edged sword- piercing the darkness… yet it has the power to save. God gave us a way to know Him. He wants to be known. The Word became flesh and lived among us. It is alive- because God is alive.
When I read it… I begin to feel alive too! Like a jar with a 1000 fireflies inside! GOD is my water and my air. I live by drinking in His every Word. It is perfect, because He is perfect.
So my first reason for a blog is this: sometimes as I go through each day, I just get this urge to let what I’m reading and learning pour out onto the world around me… To share everything from the convicting and heart rending, to the joyous and thrilling. I want to tear off the lid and let all the lights burst out! Maybe it will make even one more person want to become a vessel for fireflies too- make them long for the pure water of the Word of God. And that would be worth it.
For my second reason, I use a quote from Plotinus the Roman philosopher: “Knowledge, if it does not determine action, is dead to us.” (205 AD – 270 AD) I find that sharing (not just reading) the truths of scripture, is one way that the Spirit helps me to apply its life-giving knowledge in my own life. It is a joyful task I will carry as long as I live- to search, meditate on, live by and share the Words of God. -S.
